MAPA Online: Welcome to the Web site of the Missouri Academy of Physician Assistants. MAPA serves the needs of PAs and PA Students who work or reside in the state of Missouri. MAPA's Web site serves its members and the public by providing a forum for services and ideas designed to strengthen and promote the PA profession throughout Missouri. MAPA will strive to publicize the contributions of PAs to patients, employers, and policy makers. As the voice and advocate of PAs in Missouri, MAPA promotes continuing education for its members, provides PA employment information to PAs and physicians, and strengthens the role of PAs by supporting and encouraging membership in MAPA.

We have some great news to report from Jeff City!

As you know, the Missouri Academy of Physician Assistants (MAPA) recently asked PAs in Missouri to call their legislator to support language which would provide much-needed clarification to the supervision laws that were passed last year. The amendment does the following:

1) clarifies that the 66% supervision should be measured quarterly, not monthly; and

2) adds language stating that the board cannot require a physician-PA team to provide proof of trying to achieve 66% supervision if it has been previously approved for a waiver to this requirement.

How to Join MAPA

Many of you have already received your MAPA renewal notice. Please take a few minutes and make sure that you renew your membership today. If you did not receive a renewal notice or you have not been a member before, this is the best time to join as our membership goes from July to July; this means you will benefit from a full year of membership. Your membership will help to provide for our representation in Jefferson City as we continue to strive to improve the laws and working conditions for the PAs of Missouri. Membership also shows unity to our state leaders and helps us have the most accurate and up to date contact information on our PAs to help keep them informed and well involved in the issues that affect all PAs in the state. I know this is something that can easily be put off for another day but please renew/join today and encourage your PA colleagues to do the same. You can join right here on-line or download a paper application and renew/join through the US Mail. If you have any questions about membership or general PA questions, please feel free to send me an e-mail and I will respond as soon as possible.
